- Lateralisation of the inferior alveolar nerve allows exposure of an area of the posterior mandible to allow insertion of implants
- The main difficulty in this procedure is retracting the nerve from the bone channel where it is located without injuring it
- Due to its rounded shape, the nerve retractor allows the nerve sheath to be grasped gently with gradual removal of the bone wall so that the course of the nerve becomes readily visible
- The angulation of the head of the instrument is suitable for operating at an angle that matches the body of the mandible
